Job Description

Senior Petrophysicist

KEY OBJECTIVES:

  • Conduct advanced petrophysical analyses, integrating multidisciplinary data, and providing interpretations to support exploration, development, and production activities.
  • Conduct reservoir characterization studies to understand rock and fluid properties. Evaluate porosity, permeability, water saturation, and other reservoir parameters.
  • Analyze and interpret logging data to determine lithology, mineralogy, and fluid contact analysis.
  • Design and supervise the acquisition programs, e.g. logging program for appraisal and development wells.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Carry out near real-time formation evaluation in support of drilling Operations and provide guidance to support data acquisition.
  • Plan and manage cost-effective logging and coring programs including laboratory design and analysis RCAL/SCAL and QA/QC results.
  • Perform advanced petrophysical analyses using well logs, core data, and other subsurface data. Identify and quantify hydrocarbon-bearing zones and evaluate reservoir properties.
  • Liaising with core lab on petrophysical analysis requirements, recommend best practice to acquire quality data or results.
  • Conduct reservoir characterization studies to understand rock and fluid properties.
  • Develop rock typing from the core and log data.
  • Plan, undertake and manage petrophysical studies for reservoir characterization and volumetric resource assessment.
  • Provide input for static and dynamic reservoir models.
  • Present findings and recommendations to multidisciplinary teams & management, including external parties such as for Joint Venture Partners and host authorities.
  • Implement innovative approaches to improve petrophysical evaluations and workflows.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor / Master’s degree in petroleum Geology or Earth Sciences.
  • Minimum of 10 years of working experience in an exploration and production or service-related logging company.
  • Good knowledge of MWD/LWD, wireline logging tools and formation evaluation techniques.
  • Extensive experience in planning and supervision on data acquisition program, i.e., well logging.
  • Extensive experience in design and QA/QC laboratory analysis for rock properties.
  • Experience in screening for carbonate, coal and determine VSH/VCL, determining optimum parameters, method for log porosity and permeability calculation and calibration with RCA/SCAL and DST data.
  • Experience in determining optimum method for water saturation calculation, saturation height function, and calibrate J-Function to log water saturation at observed contacts.
  • Proficient in the use and application of industry petrophysical interpretation and analysis software, e.g. Geolog, Techlog, IP etc.
  • Familiar in evaluating vintage logs.
  • Strong communication skills with experience working in a multi-national environment.
  • Self-motivator and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proven negotiating, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
