Process Lead Engineer

 

Role Purpose:

As a Discipline Lead Engineer, are responsible for the delivery of assigned project scope and associated technical solution, in accordance with Company management system and Standards (Processes, Technical and Engineering Standards and Guidelines) and Client requirements. For that purpose, have to coordinate a team of Engineers and Designers to deliver cost effective and competitive solutions for the discipline project scope, that maximize the value for our clients, by ensuring project execution on schedule, budget, and quality standards. Are accountable to the respective area EPM and overall EPM where relevant for the Discipline scope performance. * The DLE may act as a Discipline Engineer for assigned projects.

 

Role Contribution:

In order that the project is properly planned, have to:

  1. Take ownership to define and develop Discipline scope by understanding and evaluating the project requirements.
  2. Identify dependencies and obtain alignment with project stakeholders to ensure safety and quality are not sacrificed in the effort to meet project schedule
  3. Collaborate with the Discipline Manager and Engineering Project Manager to accurately forecast manhours, resource needs, and completion date for deliverables.
  4. Set team expectations for quality standards and enforce safety requirements to meet project needs, corporate standards, and industry regulations.

The measure of effectiveness in this will be:

  • Productivity = Manhours earned / Manhours spent
  • Demonstrated understanding of Discipline design impact on other Disciplines and functions (supply chain, construction, ..)
  • Cost of Non-Quality
  • Feedback from Area EPM / Overall EPM

 

In order to effectively lead an engineering team, have to:

  1. Understand project requirements and appropriately assign tasks to team members
  2. Ensure each team member understands his/her role and responsibilities
  3. Provide coaching and guidance as needed to team members; partner with Discipline Manager for mentoring staff as needed
  4. Proactively address any performance issues and partner with Discipline Manager to continuously improve individual and team performance
  5. Promote a positive work environment to keep a high level of employee engagement
  6. Ensure previous lessons learned are incorporated into the project to minimize the impact of expected or unforeseen changes; capture new lessons learned and share with Engineering Project Manager and Discipline Manager for future projects

The measure of effectiveness in his will be:

  • Stakeholder feedback on Team Leadership
  • Issuance of deliverables within the agreed timeframe
  • Evidence of support on staff improvement/development

 

In order to achieve effective interface management and ensure changes are managed appropriately, have to:

    1. Ensure proper communication with internal/external clients to ensure all parties are promptly informed of project developments
    2. Proactively track areas likely to change to reduce the surpriseelement, added costs and delays to project
    3. Document all deviations from agreed scope and budget hours to accurately adjust man hour forecast and project completion date for related changes
    4. Ensure proper coordination with other Discipline Lead Engineers for interfaces.
    5. Understand and monitor all interfaces with Class Society and Clients to ensure requirements are properly addressed and relevant documents are reviewed timely
    6. Manage the interfaces with Vendor, Subcontractors and third-party consultants and ensure relevant documents are reviewed timely and thoroughly

The measure of effectiveness in his will be:

  • Demonstrated effective interfaces within and across disciplines
  • Timely closure of interface issues
